Val di Sole's main feature is the Noce River that begins in the Stelvio National Park and crosses through the entire valley creating numerous streams like the Noce Bianco, Vermigliana, Meledrio and the Rabbies. In 2015, the «Parco Fluviale Alto Noce» was created by local municipalities to protect the river and its naturalistic and ecological importance. Wetlands, alder forests, fields, pastures, farm lands and fascinating landscapes are the main characteristics of this land that has been inhabited since ancient times.
Discover other protected areas that are part of the «Rete Europea Natura 2000» (a network of nature protection areas within the European Union): the Torbiera del Tonale (Tonale Peat Bog) and the Ontaneta di Croviana (Croviana Alder Forest). You can discover the biodiversity of the Noce River and its protected areas on foot, by bike, on a canoe or a raft or by fishing in no kill areas.
