The Ecomuseum is an important outdoor museum for the valley from a cultural and historical point of view and shouldn't be missed.
THE ECOMUSEUM ROUTE IN VAL MELEDRIO
The route begins at the 16th century CHURCH (A) with its unique bell-tower, in the centre of the town of Dimaro.
Proceeding along the road beside the Meledrio stream (Boschetto di Dimaro) you will reach the SEGHERIA VENEZIANA (THE SAWMILL) (B) located at the very beginning of the town on the road when coming down from Folgarida.
From here it is possible to follow the route known as THE TREMENTINA (wood turpentine) TRAIL (C); you can also continue with a mountain bike and then onto the FOSINACE (forge) (D) where iron-work took place, a main source of income in the medieval era.
Here we can find THE MALLET (E) which has been perfectly restored and a lovely picnic area.
From here we can follow the route towards the CALCARA (F) a lime kiln used to produce limestone.
Further along the route you will reach the DOS DI SANTA BRIGIDA (G), where, after extensive research, the remains of an ancient hospice, run by the monks for travellers and pilgrims passing through the area, were found.
