MUSEO DELLA CIVILTA’ SOLANDRA – (Museum of the Val di Sole Civilization) in Malè

Learn more about the centuries-old history and traditions of Val di Sole and just how life was like in the past for those who lived in the valley. You can discover all this at the“Museo della Civiltà Solandra” in Malè. The museum opened in 1979 and then was further enlarged in 1983, and it is located in a building that was once used by the Austrian army as barracks for their soldiers. 

In the museum, created by the “Centro Studi Val di Sole”, you will find a permanent exhibit concerning the cultural traditions and trades of Val di Sole with original tools and equipment used by local carpenters, coppersmiths, farmers, cattle farmers, weavers, shoemakers.
You will also find a detailed display of a traditional wooden bedroom and kitchen.  
A special area was recently inaugurated dedicated to Don Giacomo Bresadola, from the town of Ortisè, an expert mycologist called the “mushroom priest”.

The Museum is open every day except for holidays and on Sundays from June 16th to September 12th, open on request during other periods.

THE WWI WHITE WAR MUSEUMS

The two WWI museums located in Vermiglio and in Peio were created as a constant reminder of this harsh and cruel war. Here you will find a collection of various weapons and artefacts from World War I that over the years were found on the Tonale and Ortles-Cevedale fronts.    
  
“Museo della Guerra Bianca” – in Vermiglio at the Polo Culturale
The museum has a collection of weapons (rifles, bombs, mortars, cannons) from WWI and WWII. There is also a section with minerals and fossils from the area.

Museo della Guerra “Peio 1914 – 1918  La Guerra sulla porta" – in Peio Paese
This museum opened in July 2003 and it was named  "La guerra sulla porta" (The war at the door) to make visitors understand just how this war, which literally changed the world,  touched each and every community. 
Open:  every day during the summer season 10.00-12.00   16.00-19.00
